Tree removal and felling in Barneveld
If a tree stands too close to the house or is no longer safe, I bring it down in sections. The wood goes with me.

When a tree has to go
Not every tree that seems to be in the way has to come out. Sometimes pruning is enough. I tell you honestly what I see, even when the answer is "leave it standing".
- It stands too close to the house, the shed or the boundary and is not going to grow out of that.
- The tree is dead, or large parts of it are dead.
- There are cracks in the trunk, or it has started to lean.
- It has blown apart, or a heavy limb has torn out.
- You are building or replanning the garden and it no longer fits.
Not sure? Send a photo of the whole tree and one of the base of the trunk. Often I can already say something sensible about it, and otherwise I will come and look.
How I take a tree out
A tree in a garden can rarely just be felled in one piece. There is always something in the way: a shed, a conservatory, the neighbours' fence.
So I climb it and take it apart from the top down. Piece by piece, lowering on a rope wherever something has to come down under control. That way everything underneath stays intact and no crane or cherry picker has to come into your garden.
- I work from the top down, in pieces I can steer.
- Whatever has to come down without falling goes on the rope.
- I saw electrically, so it is a good deal quieter than you expect.
- The brushwood goes through the chipper on site, and the rest goes with me.
Felling or full removal: what is the difference?
In practice the words get used interchangeably. This is what I mean by them.
- Felling
The tree comes out and the stump stays in the ground. Often that is enough, for instance at the back of the garden or in a border.
- Full removal
The tree comes out and so does the stump. I remove the stump with the grinder, because it mills it away without digging up half your garden.
If you want grass, a terrace or new planting on that spot, the stump has to go. You can read what that involves on the stump grinding page.
Storm damage and a fallen tree
Has a tree blown over, or is there a branch torn out and hanging above your garden? Call me. Dangerous situations go first. How fast I can be there depends on the time of day and on my schedule, and I will tell you when I can come.
- Stay away from a tree that is leaning or split, and keep children and pets away from it.
- If a tree is lying on a service, a cable or the public road, report that first to the party responsible for it.
- Take photos from a safe distance, for your insurer as well.
- Send me those photos via WhatsApp so I know what to bring when I come.
What does felling a tree cost?
There is no fixed price per tree. Two trees of the same height can differ by a full day's work.
What it depends on:
- How tall and how heavy the tree is.
- What stands around it, and therefore how much has to come down on the rope.
- How I can reach the tree, and whether I can stand the chipper nearby.
- Whether the stump can stay or has to be ground out.
- How much wood comes off and what happens to it.
Call or message me for a no-obligation quote or an appointment, or send photos via WhatsApp. You know in advance what I will do and what it will cost.
